少しずつ選ばれなくなってきました。

many materials and techniques are gradually losing their roles with time.
As efficiency and uniformity come to be prioritized,
things that require time and care—
those that are difficult to handle—
are slowly being left behind.
And yet, within them,
a richness that is deeply inherent still remains.

Kamioraは、そうした素材と向き合う中で生まれました。
和紙から生まれる伝統織物「紙布」。
軽やかで、呼吸するような質感を持ちながら、
現在では限られた場所でしか作られていない希少な素材です。
この素材を、ただ残すのではなく、
現代の暮らしの中で使われる存在へと再構築したい。
その想いから、Kamioraのものづくりは始まりました。
Kamioraのはじまり

Kamiora was born from engaging with materials like these.
Shifu—a traditional textile made from washi paper—
is light and breathable, with a texture that feels almost alive.
Today, however, it is a rare material, produced in only a limited number of places.
Rather than simply preserving it,
we seek to reimagine it as something to be used in contemporary life.
From this intention, Kamiora’s making began.

紙布という素材
“The Beginning of Kamiora”
紙布は、和紙を撚って糸にし、織り上げた伝統織物です。
軽く、やわらかく、空気を含むような質感。
使い込むほどに馴染んでいく風合い。
その一方で、扱いが難しく、
現在では生産できる場所も限られています。
Kamioraは、この素材の特性を理解し、
日常の中で使えるかたちへと仕立てています。
Washi paper is cut into fine strips, twisted into thread, and then woven.
Shifu is a traditional Japanese textile with a history of over a century.
Lightweight and breathable,
this material possesses a distinctive texture—
yet today, it is preserved in only a handful of regions.

Kamioraは、産地や工房との連携を通じて、
分断されがちな工程をつなぎ直し、
現代のプロダクトとして成立させています。
見えない工程にも価値があると考えています。

Kamiora works in collaboration with production regions and workshops,
reconnecting processes that are often fragmented,
and bringing them together as contemporary products.

Kamioraは、伝統をそのまま残すことを目的としていません。
素材の持つ価値を見つめ直し、
現代の暮らしの中で使われ続けるかたちへと再構築すること。
そのプロセスの中で、
地域の素材や産業、副産物にも目を向け、
新たな価値として提案していきます。
Kamiora does not seek to preserve tradition in its original form.
Instead, we reconsider the inherent value of materials
and reconstruct them into forms that can continue to live within contemporary life.
Through this process, we also turn our attention to regional resources, local industries, and byproducts,
reframing them as new forms of value.
